Get your mind out the gutter.
I wish I could say that “clean” products are always what they seem. But alast, in the beauty industry, they are not. The founder of the THINK DIRTY wellness app decided to do something about it.
Sure, beauty hurts, but the founder and CEO of Think Dirty, Lindsey Tse, believes it shouldn't kill. Following her mother's cancer diagnosis, getting laid off from her advertising gig, and winning a start-up competition, Tse decided to uncover the truth about the toxicity in beauty products and help consumers learn about the ingredients with a simple barcode scan. Since the skin is the body's largest organ and whatever we put on our skin or our scalp gets absorbed into our bloodstream, it seemed like a natural connection. You'd think with the simple tech of scanning a barcode to find ingredients, the FDA, with all its resources, would have caught these brands. But not to fear! With recognition from Apple, Fast Company, CNN, and Bloomberg under its belt, Think Dirty is on its way to giving the FDA some good trouble and, at the very least, dirty beauty brands a run for their bottom line money.
