You can never hurt me.
Watching Ketanji Brown Jackson navigate the Senate Confirmation hearings and reading about Will Smith’s mom in his autobiography, Will - affirmed for me what I already knew…Women and more specifically Black Women have divinity inside of them. Ketanji on one hand, carries the fury of struggle inside of her with grace. Knowing that she is probably smarter than every person on the Senate Committee, she is neither condescending, offended or discouraged. She humbly sits in the knowledge of who she is and desimates them with facts.
Caroline Bright, Will Smith’s mom is a whole other type of divine power! I Had to talk about it versus just write about it. Take a listen then we will talk Chile!
This protected place for me is joy, is my faith, is the knowledge that whatever is happening outside can't harm my peace. The world did not give me peace, so it can't take it away unless I hand it over. Black women have had to construct this fortress around our spirits to stay fortified for the work we have been anointed to do. We have to live with struggle, but I feel we were also uniquely positioned to breathe life into everything we touch, blessing everything within our purview. Sometimes, it isn't acknowledged instead it’s ridiculed, belittled, or taken for granted. But we always stay on mission. Always.
